This morning on Samuel Avenue in Peoria Heights, St. Jude employees, volunteers, families, vendors, contributors and dignitaries came out to see the beginning of the end of the home that currently sits where next year’s Dream Home will live.
Bekah Abbott, Regional Manager of ALSAC in Peoria, drew the honor of being the first person to sit in the cockpit and smash the Cat claw into the front of the existing home. The home will eventually be razed, and the plot prepped for construction of the beautiful, new Dream Home in 2020. This marks the first time in Peoria Dream Home history that the home will be where an existing home now resides in an established neighborhood, just off Prospect in The Heights.
Developer Katie Kim, Custom Builder Scott Lewis, Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis and many others were on hand today to see the first step of the evolution from old home to new one. Below is what the home will look like when finished.
Pretty sharp, eh? Keep St. Jude in mind and give when and where you can to the cause. At St. Jude, they treat kids 18 and under who have cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The family never has to pay for anything – treatment, travel, housing or food – that insurance doesn’t cover. And it’s all paid for by donations from regular people like me and you.
