Since most of us will never make the huge sacrifice to serve our country as a member of the United States military, it’s always good to pay our respect and say thanks to those who did or are still serving. Here’s one way you can do that…
The Central Illinois Veteran Warriors are hosting an auction event this Saturday (8/24) from 6-9 pm at Kickback on Fulton in Peoria to raise money for a new program designed for military veterans. A group of hockey-playing area vets banded together to form this team. The idea is to improve their mental and physical health and well-being by playing the great game of hockey.
The Central Illinois Veteran Warriors inaugural season is coming up, and they could still use a few more players who served in any branch of the U.S. armed services. Any level player is welcome to join. They’re still looking for additional auction items, too, but they’ve scored some great prizes already. You can bid on items like: Blackhawks or White Sox tickets, game-worn Peoria Rivermen jersey, etc. Their FB link is HERE.
Drop by Kickback on Fulton, downtown Peoria, Saturday evening for your chance to get this first-year program off the ground in style. Bid on a prize, buy a t shirt or hat or just make a donation. It’s our small way of saying, “Thanks,” to these veterans.
