It’s been a while, diary… I mean, friends of mine reading this very public post online.
In good news, I’ve started to get in the groove of working out at least four times a week. There’s always at least once during the week that I just NEED to sleep in and not wake up in the middle of the night (okay, 4:30a) to get ready to go to the gym, but I’ve been doing okay other than that. I’d like to go 5 days, but the weekends never seem to happen. I’m either in a state of laying in bed Netflixing all day long, or I’m so crazy busy I don’t even feel like the weekend existed. Neither scenario includes working out… which is beginning to be a problem, as my half marathon is about 10 weeks away, and my long runs are not going to be accomplished on the weekdays… so I’m going to need to get over my weekend-laziness really quickly!
Another thing I’ve been noticing is that it’s getting harder and harder for me to get in, and stay in, the red zone during my workouts. While frustrating… this is actually a good sign because it means my heart is getting stronger. It takes less pumps to get oxygen circulating through my body (in the form of blood). It just means I’m going to have to work EVEN HARDER to make it to that zone. This week, that did not happen. I spent very little time in the Red Zone. We’re talking less than a minute each work out.
I also added Semi-private training to get a third trainer-led workout into my week. Boy did THIS kick my butt both times I’ve done it! The first week, I was the ONLY one, so it was personal training, essentially. The second week, there were two other ladies with me. Both times, though, ensure maximum accountability and attention from the trainer. BurnZone, HIRT, and Boot Camp all have at least 8 people each time- still better than the weekly classes that can have at least 20 in them. Less people = more trainer attention = more results.
I’m just getting in the groove and our Riverplex Xtreme program is winding its way down… so I may end up signing up for another round. I love the accountability, and every single person involved wants to see you succeed! The next round starts this month, so if your New Years Resolutions have already fallen off the wagon and you want to get back on board, this is an AWESOME way to do it! Find more information here.
I am doing a little better on the food front, lately, too! I still hate cooking, so after about a week and eating all my food, I end up in the drive-through a lot, but at least I’m making better drive through choices! Egg White sandwiches for breakfast instead of something fried and delicious, salads or bowls full of protein (hello CoreLife), heck, you can even find healthier items on Taco Bell’s menu by making it Fresco style!
Anyone want to keep me accountable for my runs? Message the page on Facebook every day and ask how my last run went and when my next run is? It might help get me off my butt!
Thanks for checking in!
