Costumes, Pumpkins, and Scary Movies OH MY!

October weekends are for getting your costumes ready, Halloween parties, haunted houses, campfires (with lots of marshmallows), scary movies (Casper), and carving pumpkins! I’m doing all of those this weekend!

Costumes

Usually the costume is the one that takes the most effort, but this year we stuck to a decision and started working early! Come to the Costume Ball to see Bob and Linda Belcher! I love putting together my own costumes! Goodwill, deep spaces of your closet, and the craft store are your friends! As a kid I couldn’t decide between a cat or a volleyball player, so I was a cat volleyball player! Yeah, I know, I’m not super proud of that one. A simple graduation gown turned into a very easy Judge Judy costume one year. And as you can see in these pictures I crafted, 1. the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland  (I actually sewed that red cape, and a white loofah for the tail) and then 2. Another year, a last minute costume required a lot of duct tape to make a Shane Falco jersey (from the movie The Replacements). Not pictured, the football helmet that was actually a beer helmet. It was all I could find 🙂

PUMPKINS

I go down a deep Pinterest search path every year to decorate pumpkins! Here are a few ideas that I’m sure you can execute better than I did! 1. Flounder from Little Mermaid. I eventually used a blue light inside to make it look a little closer. 2. Ms. Pac-Man. That one was fun, but she looks really scary when she starts to rot! and 3. the carriage from Cinderella (get it, it’s a pumpkin before it’s a carriage!). Show us your creative (and better executed) pumpkins!

(MOST IMPORTANTLY) MARSHMALLOWS

Get the campfire ready! Do you see the size of that marshmallow. My recipe for s’mores is 1 part graham cracker 100 parts marshmallow and .5 part chocolate. Let’s be real, most of the time It’s just marshmallow.

I’d love to see your pics from your October weekend! Show us on Facebook!
