Well, I SHOULD have posted yesterday, but I didn’t make it to my 5:30am workout, because I overslept. Funny, I worked at 4:30am for a year and a half and never overslept, but the workouts, my body is like “nah!” So instead, I went today to BurnZone.
So last Wednesday, we finally got my heart rate monitor to work! It’s awesome because it shows the exact zone everyone is in during the class, so you find your name and turn that circle the right color based on what the trainer is telling you. Afterward, you get an email with your results. SO COOL! Here’s mine from last Wednesday!
Yellow and Orange are where you’re going to burn the most fat, and the Red Zone is where you’re going to build up your tolerance, and point of working out is to get stronger, right? (I mean, to lose fat, too, but strong is SEXY!) I torched 470 calories, which was awesome, and averaged about 78% of my max HR, which equates to high yellow. But I’m competitive with myself. That wasn’t good enough. I didn’t like that I spent 11 minutes and 21 seconds in a lower-than-yellow category, so today, the minute I got the HR monitor on, I started light jogging. I didn’t want to dip below yellow the whole time. And because of it, I torched an extra 60 calories from today’s workout!
I spent NO minutes in blue, and only 1:39 in green, a difference of 9 minutes and 42 seconds! I think other factors in that extra 60 calorie torch was the significantly longer time I spent in the Red Zone. My Orange was pretty comparable to Wednesday’s class, and I had LESS time in Yellow today, but my red went from 6:49 to a whopping 18:43! That’s about THREE TIMES MORE than Wednesday’s class!
Also, I weighed myself before class this morning and I’ve lost about 3lbs already! That makes me feel better about all the snacking I did last week. I felt like I was TERRIBLE when it came to food last week, but obviously, I need to be nicer to myself.
In addition to doing this program, I’ve also signed up for a DietBet. That always motivates me because I’ll literally lose money if I don’t hit the 4% weight loss in 4 weeks they give me!
We get weekly challenges in Xtreme, too. Last week was to drink half your weight in ounces in water every day. They asked how we felt after. My answer: like a pregnant lady- needing to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes! Honestly, I know the right answer was “Better! More energy! Yay water!” but my body still has a little adjusting to working out to go. I still felt tired. I’m still continuing the challenge through this week, to see if I feel any better! This week’s challenge is to alter a favorite recipe of mine and make it healthier. My favorite recipe right now? Step 1: Call the number of your favorite pizza place. Step 2: Order your favorite pizza. Step 3: Wait 30-45 minutes. Step 4: Enjoy.
More next week!
