Let’s pretend you’re excited for your kids, and you aren’t totally geeked yourself. I have an affinity for children’s movies, sometimes, and with no kids of my own, I feel odd just going to the theater to see them myself. Despicable Me has been one of my favorites since the first one came out. I remember Best Buy promoting a minion translator so you could understand the minions at the end, but you had to start it at the beginning of the movie, because there must have been a silent tone that synced it or whatnot. Anyway, my friend and I were giggling at the credit scene, because of things the translator told us the minions said, and the rest of the movie goers were giving us odd looks. I kept it on my phone to watch when it came out on DVD, but it didn’t work. Sad face. I was an early adult, then. It was still forgivable. Nearing my thirties, giggling like a kid at a kid movie is a little, uh, strange.

Oh, don’t think for a moment that means I’m not going to go see it. No, I am just going to convince one of my friends with kids to let me know when they go, and tag along with them! The minions are back in all their silly glory, along with Gru, the girls, and the new wife from Despicable Me 2! And it wouldn’t be an adventure without the bad guy! Balthazar Bratt makes an appearance in the trailer, too! Enjoy!
