I’m just a muggle girl, wishing for a wizard world! I’d take the Hogwarts train going anywhere!

I started my Harry Potter journey when I was 11 years old. I picked up “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone” at the library, because I’d heard some good things and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. At age 28, I’ve read that book more times than I can keep track of… I’ve got to be over 10 by now! Maybe even closer to 20! It was fantastic to delve into the world of the boy that was my age and found out he was a wizard! Knowing it was fiction, I still spent most of that year wishing and yearning for my owl from Hogwarts, telling me that I, too, was a wizard.

I’ve read and own all the books (including digital copies) and also own all of the extras- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them- a school book of Harry’s which is delightfully annotated with notes back and fourth from Ron and Hermione (usually scolding them for not paying attention), Quiddich Through the Ages- a book given to Harry when he had unintentionally made the House Quiddich Team in his first year, and the Tales of Beedle the Bard- a children’s book containing the story of the Deathly Hallows, which are mentioned in the 7th installment of the series.

In my Senior year of college, a friend convinced me to go to Universal on a mini-vacation, where the Wizarding World of Harry Potter had opened up about 6 months prior. It. Was. AWESOME!

I also own all of the movies, AND went to all of the premiers (sometimes I dressed up, others, I was too cool). Needless to say, when that last movie came out, I was depressed. I was 23 and I had spent over half my life waiting and anticipating something new from the Harry Potter world. What was I supposed to do NOW? Naturally, I just relived it. Over and over and over again. Reread the books. Re-watched the movies.(I STILL want to go back to Universal, since they added MORE HP since I was there!)

And then, something magical (pun intended) happened on Harry Potter’s birthday this year: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released in script form for public consumption, after having had a decent run in London as a play. Not exactly written by Jo Rowling herself, but it was written from a story she created, and with her approval, so close enough!

And then in November, MORE HARRY POTTER!

Jo Rowling wrote a SCREENPLAY for her extra book- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which follows the books “author” through his life’s journey, encountering enough magical creatures to make Hagrid jealous. Check out the trailer below. I. Can’t. Wait!

In a post-Harry Potter wold, 2016 was really good to Harry Potter fans!
