The Rio Olympic opening ceremonies kick off tonight meaning millions of viewers all over the world will be tuning in to watch. So what types of performance will we looking forward to? No doubt the last few opening ceremonies have been nothing short of amazing, but each of the countries have held the show in testament to reflecting their own countries values and traditions. Directing the ceremonies is Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles who is mainly known for his dark and gritty films. With that in mind we may see an opening ceremony unlike any we’ve ever seen before.
The ceremony will also feature a heavy amount of musical performance, showing the styles and themes that reflect Rio. Brazilian artists, dancers, singers and much more will also be making appearances in the performance. There will also be a show of performers from Rio’s famous Carnival in the ceremony. In total they have almost 5 thousand people putting on the show in a stadium that will be holding more that 78 thousand attendees and the hundreds of Olympians who will be representing us and our fellow nations.
You can watch the ceremonies starting at 6pm on NBC or stream it online here.
