In that week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve last year, I took the week off from my full-time job, and had a lot of free time. I had seen a few of my friends talking about “Making a Murderer,” but when my brother and (now) sister-in-law raved about it, I thought “why not.” I quickly got insanely absorbed into the storyline and watched the entire season in a matter of days. I hopped on social media to discuss theories and plots with my friends, and the best (or worst, in Steven Avery’s case) part about it was that the whole thing was true and unfolding in front of our eyes! This was the most exciting true-crime story since the first season of the Serial podcast!
Well now, Netflix has released a statement confirming that more episodes in the works. The first season took ten years to make, but the popularity of the case because of the series got things moving, again. Steven Avery has a new lawyer, as does Brendan Dassey, and everyone seems more determined than ever to dig in and find out what REALLY happened to Teresa Halbach on Halloween night, 2005.
No release date as of yet, but I’m on the edge of my seat!
